Paragliding in Lumdung (Papu Valley)

Lumdung is located in the East Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh, India, near Seppa. During the winter, migratory birds flock to Lumdung Valley. The valleys turn green with natural beauty during the summer season.

In November 2018, the Arunachal Paragliding Association introduced paragliding in Lumdung Valley for the first time. Paragliding in Lumdung Valley is a must-do adventure activity in Arunachal Pradesh if you are visiting Seppa or Lumdung Valley.

How to reach

By air

Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) in Guwahati, Assam is the nearest airport. Lumdung Valley is 380 kilometers (ten hours) away from the airport.

Naharlagun is the closest helipad (Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh). Lumdung Valley is 200 kilometers (5 hours) away from the helipad.

By train

The nearest railway station is Naharlagun (NHLN) Northeast Frontier Railway Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, which is 190 kilometers (4:30 hours drive) from Lumdung Valley.

By road

Most of the places in the East Kameng District are accessible by car. Seppa is connected by road and air to the capital, Itanagar, and the neighboring state of Assam.

Seppa can be reached by bus, private vehicle, or taxi from Itanagar and Tezpur in Assam. There are two (2) routes from Itanagar to Seppa: one via Bhalukpong (430km) and one via Sagali (210km).

Despite being longer, the first is preferable to the latter. Due to landslides, the latter is nearly impossible to travel during the rainy season. The distance from Tezpur is 220 kilometers.


Paragliding in Mechuka

Mechuka is a small picturesque valley in Arunachal Pradesh's West Siang district that is nearly 6000 feet above sea level. Mechuka is a very less explored place and Paragliding is one of the best things to do if you are visiting Mechuka, Arunachal Pradesh.

November to April is the best time to visit Mechuka. It is best to travel after the monsoon season because the road conditions are less than ideal during the rainy season. As a result, avoid traveling during that time.

By air

The nearest airports are Lilabari Airport (North Lakhimpur) 470 kilometers (11 hours drive) and Guwahati (Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport) 868 kilometers (21 hours drive) and Mohanbari Airport (Dibrugarh) 442 kilometers (11 hours drive). All three Airports are in Assam.

By train

The nearest railway stations are Silapathar (Assam) 387 kilometers (10 hours drive) and Naharlagun (Arunachal Pradesh) 533 kilometers (12 hours drive).

By road (public transportation)

The best way to get to Mechuka by public transportation is to take a shared taxi. Shared taxis are available from Along, Pasighat, and Itanagar. There is no public bus service on this road.

Yazali is a small town situated in the Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. The main attraction of Yazali is its paragliding area, which has been developed over the last few years by the Paragliding Association of Arunachal (PAA)

By train

The nearest railway stations are Bhalukpong (Arunachal Pradesh, West Kameng) 279 kilometers (8 hours drive), and Harmuti Junction (Assam, Lakhimpur, Narayanpur) 98 kilometers (3 hours drive).

By road (public transportation)

A shared taxi is the best way to get to Yezali by public transportation. From Itanagar, shared taxis are available. This road has no public bus transportation.
